[Master and PhD Degree] Kawaguchi Shizu Memorial Scholarship 2019 at University of Tokyo, Japan (Fully Funded)

The University of Tokyo is a public research university located in Bunkyo, Tokyo, Japan. Established in 1877 as the first imperial university, it is one of Japan's most prestigious universities.
The university has 10 faculties and enrolls about 30,000 students, 2,100 of whom are international students. Its five campuses are in Hongō, Komaba, Kashiwa, Shirokane and Nakano. It is among the top type of the select Japanese universities assigned additional funding under the MEXT's Top Global University Project to enhance Japan's global educational competitiveness.The university has graduated many notable alumni, including 17 Prime Ministers, 16 Nobel Prize laureates, 3 Pritzker Prize laureates, 3 astronauts, and 1 Fields Medalist.

Benefit:
Amount : 60,000 JPY/month (Master’s student), 80,000JPY/month (Doctoral student) 

Requirement:
  • Privately financed international students from Asian countries who are studying at, or allowed to be enrolled in a graduate school in Japan as a regular student with college visa status.
  • Those who are 34 years old or younger at the time of application.
  • Those who have good academic performance, and need a financial assistance.
  • Those who do not receive other scholarships.
  • Those who have Japanese language proficiency certificate TOPJ with advanced C level (JLPT with a similar level also accepted). 

How to Apply:
Applicants must submit the following documents to ILO (International Liaison Office) .
The foundation designated application form should be printed double sided, should not be stapled.
  • Application Form for Scholarship from private Foundations, 1 original
  • Transcript of graduate school and of undergraduate school,  1 original (or 1 copy)
  • Application Form (Foundation specified), 1 original
  • Recommendation letter (paper size A4), 1 original
  • Certificate of Enrollment, 1 original (or Certificate of Admission, 1 copy)
  • Residence card, 1 copy (or Certificate of Residency, 1 original)
  • Research plan (Size of A4),  1 original
  • Postcard issued by JP Post to notify the result, 1 sheet
  • Certificate of Japanese Language Proficiency, 1 copy
Those who pass the first screening will be interviewed end-March at Amagasaki in Hyogo prefecture. Transportation fee should be paid by applicants.
