[Bachelor and Master Degree] National Arts Council Arts Scholarships in Singapore, 2019 (Fully Funded)

As Singapore's arts and culture scene develops amidst an increasingly complex socio-cultural environment, NAC recognises the need to continue to invest in and nurture a diversity of arts practitioners and professionals who have the knowledge and skills to lead the development of the scene, as well as champion the value of the arts to a wider community.
The NAC Arts Scholarship aims to nurture outstanding individuals to contribute to the arts and cultural development in Singapore. As future leaders of the arts and culture sector, Scholars will be game changers to push artistic boundaries, and lead their peers to create positive impact for the Singapore community through the arts.

The NAC Arts Scholarship will be offered for full-time arts and arts-related degree programmes at reputable universities or arts institutions in Singapore or overseas. Outstanding arts practitioners/professional may be supported to deepen their knowledge and skills through postgraduate studies in the following priority areas: 
  • Arts Criticism and Writing
  • Arts Management
  • Arts Pedagogy
  • Arts Research
  • Arts and Technology
  • Arts for Young Audiences
  • Community Arts Practice
  • Production, Technical and Stage Management
  • Production Design
Literary Arts
  • Creative Writing
  • Literary Translation
Performing Arts
  • Choreography
  • Composing
  • Conducting
  • Creative Producing
  • Dramaturgy
Visual Arts
  • Southeast Asian Art History
  • Curating (Art in Public Spaces)
The NAC Arts Scholarship will also support exceptional talents with leadership qualities for undergraduate studies, to pursue a career as an arts practitioner/professional in the following priority areas:
  • Composing (Traditional Music)
  • Conducting (Traditional Music)
  • Performance (Traditional Music)
  • Performance (Ballet & Traditional Dance)
  • Production, Technical and Stage Management 
 
Requirement:

  • Applicants must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.
  • Applicants must possess a Bachelor degree or equivalent.
  • Candidates will be judged on the potential contribution of the applicant’s area of studies to the development of the arts and cultural sector in Singapore.
  • Leadership qualities
  • Talent (creative potential)
  • Academic record
  • Strong track record of co-curricular activities, and/or achievements and involvement in the arts in Singapore
  • At least 2 years of relevant industry experience

Documents required:

  • An Online application;
  • A Printed copy of the online application form with your signature;
  • A personal statement;
  • CV;
  • Letter of admission;
  • Description of all proposed course of studies;
  • Cost of studies;
  • Official transcripts;
  • Copies of past Scholarships, Awards, Commendations, Prizes, and Certificates received;
  • Letters of reference;
  • Scanned copy of your NRIC;
  • National Service record (male applicants only);
  • Samples of applicant’s work, depending on his/her field of practice.

How to Apply:
There is only one application window for the NAC Arts Scholarship every year. The NAC Arts Scholarship 2019 is now open for application.

Complete applications must be submitted before Friday 29 March 2019, 5pm to be eligible. Applicants are wholly responsible for ensuring that all components of the Scholarship application are received by the NAC before the application deadline.

The NAC reserves the right to not disclose the reasons for approving or rejecting any application, and to reject any incomplete/late application.
