[Bachelor and Master Degree] The Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme Program 2019-20, UK (Fully Funded)



The British Council administers the following Scholarships for students and professionals who wish to study in the UK:
International Scholarships:
  • Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP)
  • Charles Wallace Pakistan Trust (CWPT)
  • Chief Minister Faculty Development Programme for Faculty of Public Sector Colleges in Punjab
Offered Nationally:
  • Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme Bachelor's Programme
  • Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme Master's Programme
1. Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme Bachelor's Programme

The Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme Program funds graduate studies for Pakistani women in any HEC recognized university across Pakistan. Funded by the Scottish Government, these grants aim to make higher education more accessible to women, supporting them in achieving their potential and ambition.

For the very first time this year, the Pakistan Scottish Scholarship is being offered at undergraduate level for a four-year’s bachelor’s degree as well.

British Council will administer the scheme in Pakistan and coordinate with selected scholars and universities either directly or through nominated university focal persons.

The Award
  • Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme will facilitate award-holders with the following:
  • Tuition fees for courses in eligible fields
  • University hostel costs (where applicable)
  • Travel to and from home to university two times a year for students staying in on-campus hostels

Subject Areas
  • The scholarship will cover a four-year bachelor’s degree at an HEC-recognised Pakistani university in one of the following subject areas only:
  • Education
  • Sustainable Energy
  • Food Security and Agriculture
  • Health Sciences

Requirement:
These scholarships are open to female applicants only. In addition, applicants must:
  • Be Pakistani nationals currently residing in Pakistan
  • Be pursuing a four-year bachelor’s degree in the above listed subject areas
  • Hold a confirmed admission offer from an HEC recognised public university in Pakistan
  • Young women with disabilities, from rural areas and/or minority groups are encouraged to apply.

A complete application will include:
  • A duly filled out application form
  • Scanned copy of CNIC
  • Scanned copy of transcripts
  • Proof of admission and/or enrolment at bachelor’s level
  • Tuition fee form

2. Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme Master's Programme

The Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme Program funds graduate studies for Pakistani women in any HEC recognized university across Pakistan. Funded by the Scottish Government, these grants aim to make higher education more accessible to women, supporting them in achieving their potential and ambition.

The Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme Master’s levels funds a maximum two-year master’s degree for Pakistani women in any HEC recognized university across Pakistan.

British Council will administer the scheme in Pakistan and coordinate with selected scholars and universities either directly or through nominated university focal persons.

The Award

3. Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP)
 The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) is an international programme under which member governments offer scholarships and fellowships to citizens of other Commonwealth countries. The CSFP was established at the first Commonwealth education conference in 1959, and over 26,000 individuals have benefited. Awards in the UK are funded by the Department for International Development, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Department for Education (DFE), in conjunction with UK universities. The CSC also nominates UK citizens for scholarships to study in other Commonwealth countries under the CSFP.

Scope of Study
  • One-year taught Master's course
  • PhD
  • Six-month fellowship
  • Distance learning
  • Split-site scholarship
What does CSFP cover?
  • Economy travel airfare
  • Visa processing fee
  • Tuition fee
  • Maintenance and other allowances, during the study period

Requirement:

Candidate must:
  • Be a Pakistani citizen, residing in Pakistan
  • Hold a first degree of upper second class Honours standard (or above), or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification
  • Have taken the IELTS English language test.

Selection Criteria Applications are considered according to the following selection criteria:
  • Academic merit
  • The quality of the proposal
  • The likely impact of the work on the development of the candidate’s home country.
  • Scholarship
  • Firstly, the candidates are shortlisted based on their application and later they are further assessed through personal interviews. This phase of selection is conducted in Pakistan, by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Fellowship

Nominations for the prospective fellows are required to be sent to the Higher Education Commission (HEC), from respective institutions and organisations. The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) London does the final selection on the basis of the nominations sent by the HEC.
