ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme (AYVP) Philippines 2020 For ASEAN and International Youth, Philippines

The ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme (AYVP) is a youth community leadership programme that mobilises young volunteers to work with communities in developing innovative solutions to the social, cultural, economic and environmental challenges of the region while forging a sense of ASEAN identity.

For 2020, the AYVP will be looking into the thematic area of Education Development to be implemented in Manila, Philippines through a joint partnership between Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (The National University of Malaysia – UKM) and University of the Philippines System (UP). The AYVP Philippines 2020 is also supported by the ASEAN Secretariat and Ministry of Youth and Sports, Malaysia. At the end of one (1) month, AYVP Philippines 2020 seeks to develop 50 ASEAN Youth Education Development Leaders who are ASEAN-conscious and equipped with skills and competencies in youth leadership and disaster management, through the spirit of volunteerism and community engagement.

The four-week programme will be held at UP for weeks 1 and 4 while weeks 2 and 3 will be at the community sites near Los Banos. Accommodation throughout the four (4) weeks will be at UP.

There are two (2) categories in AYVP Philippines 2020 which has different eligibility. Kindly read the eligibility carefully before you select apply:

ASEAN Youth Education Development Leaders 2020


Eligibility for ASEAN Nationals
  • Open to nationals of ASEAN countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
  • Youth between the ages of 18 to 30.
  • Able to fluently communicate in the English language, written and spoken.
  • Able to work in multi-cultural settings.
  • Able to commit to the programme throughout August 2020.
  • The selected volunteers will be notified via email. If selected, the volunteer needs to deposit a refundable commitment fee of 100 USD, reference letter and submit a Medical Certificate.
  • The secretariat will only cover flights, accommodation, food, and insurance.

Eligibility for Non-ASEAN Nationals

  • Open to all.
  • Youth between the ages of 18 to 30.
  • Able to fluently communicate in the English language, written and spoken.
  • Able to work in multi-cultural settings.
  • Able to commit to the programme throughout August 2020.
  • The selected volunteers will be notified via email. If selected, the volunteer needs to deposit 1,500.00 USD, reference letter and submit a Medical Certificate.
  • The volunteer will need to cover his/her own flights, insurance, and visa.

Process of Selection
There are only 50 places for ASEAN Nationals in this programme. After technical knock-out and secretariat-level evaluation, qualified applicants will undergo the selection by the stakeholder. The final round of selection will be a telephone interview. The closing date of the application will be on 15 April 2020, 2359H GMT+8. The selection will be based on the merits of the individual. There will be online or phone interviews conducted for shortlisted candidates.
