[Master Degree] Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) at University of Sydney, Australia (Fully Funded)

The Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) was established in April 1988 with financing from the Government of Japan. It aims to provide an opportunity for well-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries to undertake postgraduate studies in development-related fields. Upon completion of their study programs, scholars are expected to contribute to the economic and social development of their home countries.

Requirement:

Applicants must satisfy the following criteria:
  • be a citizen of the Asia Development Bank's developing member countries (Include Indonesia)
  • have gained an unconditional offer for one of the approved postgrad courses listed above
  • have at least two years full-time professional work experience (acquired after a university degree) at the time of application
  • be aged 35 years or under at the time of application
  • not have already completed a master degree
  • not previously studies overseas
  • be living and working in your home country

How to Apply
To be considered for this scholarship, you MUST:
  • Lodge an application for admission to one of the above degrees direct to the University, using the 'apply now' option within Find a course to take you to the Sydney Student portal where you apply and upload supporting documents.
  • Complete the ADB-JSP Information Sheet and upload it to your application. Use filename “ADB Scholarship Application Sheet’ and upload it as evidence of the scholarship you have applied for.
  • Complete the Income Conversion to US Dollars form and upload to your application in the general documents area.
  • The University of Sydney application processing fee (APF) will be waived if you choose ‘I have applied for a scholarship’, and ‘submit and request fee waiver’ when submitting your course application.
  • Your ADB-JSP application will only be considered, if you receive an unconditional offer to one of the above degree programs prior to the ADB-JSP application deadline. If your entry is conditional on English language proficiency or academic documentation, you must provide all required documents before the ADB-JSP scholarship deadline.
  • Upload evidence of two (2) years work experience (your CV) and your latest income tax return (an official letter from an employer may be accepted in cases where an income tax return is not available).

Selection Criteria
The University will nominate eligible students to the ADB on the basis of following criteria:
  • Preference will be given to candidates with outstanding academic achievement. The current GPA average required to be considered is 3.5/4.0 (6.5/7.0 or equivalent). The University of Sydney will calculate a grade conversion for other scales.
  • Preference will be given to female candidates.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a lower financial capacity.
  • Applicants with less than two years of work experience will not be selected.
All students with an unconditional offer for Semester 1, 2020 and a completed ADB application form uploaded to their application by November 1, 2019 will automatically be considered for the Scholarship.


Successful applicants will be notified within two weeks of the cut-off date. Only successful students will be notified via email. Please do not contact the University regarding outcomes.

No applicant will be allowed to apply for the ADB-JSP scholarship more than three times. Previously unsuccessful applicants must wait one year before re-applying.
