[Master and PhD Degree] Toyohashi University of Technology MEXT Scholarship 2020 - Special Program (University Recommendation), Japan (Fully Funded)

University Recommendation is a type of selection where students are recommended to MEXT by a Japanese university. Toyohashi University of Technology recommends students under the two categories: "General" (For General Program Click HERE) and "Special Program".
 

Special Program:Program overview

1. Global Rotation Program for Engineering Education Centered on ASEAN and African Countries
 
Contribute to sustainable development in ASEAN and African countries by increasing the number of PhD in Engineering holder of university/polytechnic lectures
Develop practical, creative and leadership education and research skills for global engineering educators through experiences of the program

Program contents
Program students will take general subject of international doctoral degree program and program specific subject such as Japanese Language, Teaching Practice on Global Education (On-campus and High school) and Japanese Industrial Internship Program.

Number of Students and scholarships
  • 5 students: Japanese Government Scholarship (University Recommendation)
    JICA's program "Innovative Asia" will provide some additional financial supports for scholars those graduated from partner schools designated by JICA (*).

Application Procedure and Deadlines

Note: All application documents will be used for screening in several organizations such as MEXT, JICA and government in country of applicants. (Only for applicants who will receive both MEXT scholarship and additional financial supports from JICA.)


2. Innovative Engineers Development Program through Enhancing Network between Asian Countries and Regional Industries

Develop professional engineering skills for international students from 12 Asian countries in order to promote innovation globally
Promote innovation in the whole Asia by strengthening relationships between Japanese local companies, international students, partner universities and Toyohashi University of Technology through the program

Program contents
Program students will develop their professional engineering skills through the general subjects for International Master's Degree Program and the program specific subjects such as Japanese Language, Japanese Life Today, Japanese Industrial Technologies and Innovation and Japanese Industrial  Internship Program.

Number of Scholarship Students 8 students: Japanese Government (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology: MEXT) Scholarship (University Recommendation) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Innovative Asia Support

Note: Number of scholarship students for JICA support is subject to change.

Qualifications
  • Those who will study about targeted research area (Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Big Data, Robotics, Data Science) or research applying these technologies
  • Those who have obtained a bachelor degree from the partner university
  • Those who are meeting the qualifications for application of Japanese government scholarship
  • Those who are meeting the qualifications of International Master Degree Program, Toyohashi University of Technology

Application procedure (both)
  • Check application qualification and conditions
    Check Application Guidelines and Academic Performance Entry Sheet to confirm whether your grade point average is 2.30 (out of 3.00) or above of the most recent academic degree as well as whether you satisfy other required qualifications and conditions.
  • Find a prospective supervisor
    After confirming that you satisfy all the necessary qualifications and conditions, please look for your prospective supervisor from Department Information and Faculty Members List and contact them to consult about your research objectives. After getting the supervisor's acceptance, please send them all required documents before the application deadline.
    Please Note: The university administration office will not introduce the supervisors to applicants, and it is very important to communicate directly with your supervisor well in advance.
  • Submit application documents
    Send all required documents by e-mail first, then by international express mail to the supervisor (hard copies).

  • Abstract of Thesis (if completed) or a description of your thesis research in progress
  • Proof of high performance or good achievement record
