Kanazawa University Exchange Program (KUEP) 2021, Japan (JASSO Scholarship)

 
 
Kanazawa University is a leading university on the Sea of Japan coast, the University has contributed greatly to Japanese higher education and academic research since it was founded in 1949.  
 
One of the University’s charms lies in being able to study in Kanazawa, a city rich in history and traditional culture. Kanazawa has cultivated a respected intellectual profile since the time of the Kaga fiefdom (1598 – 1867). Lively interaction among students, communication with staff, and the local community make it the perfect venue for students’ personal growth and development.  
 
We are pleased to inform you that the Application Student Exchange Programs for Spring 2021 at Kanazawa University (KUEP) open for partner university
 
Scholarship:
Participants belonging to institutions that have concluded a Memorandum on Student Exchange with Kanazawa University and having the nationality of countries or regions that have diplomatic relations with Japan will be paid monthly stipends, if accepted as a JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) scholarship grantee. (Students from Taiwan and Palestine are also considered eligible. Students who have Japanese citizenship are NOT eligible.)

2020:  Monthly stipend is 80,000 yen
(The number of students granted a scholarship was limited.)
Scholarship students must meet the following requirements in addition to the above-mentioned requirements for application.
  • 1) Commendable academic performance.
  • 2) In need of financial assistance to study abroad in Japan.
  • 3) The monthly amount of scholarship funds received from other agencies must be 80,000 yen or less.


Requirement:

Human and Social Sciences
Applicants must meet all requirements listed below.
  • 1) Applicants must be full-time students at their home university at the time of enrollment.
  • 2) Applicants must have an excellent academic record and personality.
  • 3) Applicants must have a definite plan and purpose of study regarding the program. They must also have a strong commitment to devote themselves to their studies.
  • 4) Applicants must resume their studies at their home institution after the completion of their studies at Kanazawa University.
  • 5) Applicants must qualify for the “College Student” visa.
  • 6) Applicants must have a good command of the Japanese/English language in order to understand lectures. (Applicants wishing to take courses given in Japanese must have a level of skill in the Japanese language equal to or higher than level N2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. Those wishing to take courses given in English must have a level of skill in the English language higher than TOEIC Listening & Reading Test700, TOEFL-iBT 72, TOEFL-PBT 527, IELTS 5.5., or Cambridge English 160. Applicants wishing to study Japanese language education at the graduate level must have skills in the Japanese language equivalent to level N1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency test.
  • 7) Graduate students must get an agreement of acceptance from their desired supervisor before applying.

Science and Engineering Sciences/Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences
Applicants must meet all requirements listed below.
  • 1) Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in their third or fourth year or in a master’s program at their home university at the time of enrollment.
  • 2) Applicants must have an excellent academic record and personality.
  • 3) Applicants must have a definite plan and purpose of study regarding the program. They must also have a strong commitment to devote themselves to their studies.
  • 4) Applicants must have the ability and knowledge to take part in specialized research.
  • 5) Applicants must resume their studies at their home institution after the completion of their studies at Kanazawa University.
  • 6) Applicants must qualify for the “College Student” visa.
  • 7) Applicants must have a good command of the English language in order to understand lectures given in English.
  • 8) Applicants must get an agreement of acceptance from their desired professor before applying.

How to Apply:
  • 1. Applicants must submit their application to study at Kanazawa University through their home institution.
  • 2 Applicants may apply for either the Kanazawa University Japanese Language and Culture Programor the Kanazawa University Exchange Program (“Human and Social Sciences” or “Science and Engineering Sciences/Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences”).
  • 3 Kanazawa University will select prospective participants as well as candidates for scholarships and the department upon discussions of the screening body.
  • 4 Candidates must submit a Medical Report (all candidates) and Agreement for Defraying Expenses with a bank statement showing the current account balance (except for JASSO scholarship candidates). Your acceptance into the program may be revoked if you do not submit these documents or if you do not meet the health requirements for studying abroad due to reason of infectious disease or other condition.
  • 5 You must submit to a medical checkup at Kanazawa University after your arrival.
  • 6 Applicants for the above scholarship programs are precluded from applying for a study abroad with JASSO scholarship or the Japanese government (MEXT) scholarship at another university, or for the Japanese government scholarship through a Japanese embassy at the same time. Those who have Japanese citizenship are NOT eligible.
  • 7 Applications from applicants currently enlisted in military service will not be accepted.
