Kavli IPMU Postdoctoral Positions for International Researchers in University of Tokyo


The University of Tokyo is a public research university located in Bunkyo, Tokyo, Japan. Established in 1877 as the first imperial university, it is one of Japan's most prestigious universities.
The university has 10 faculties and enrolls about 30,000 students, 2,100 of whom are international students. Its five campuses are in Hongō, Komaba, Kashiwa, Shirokane and Nakano. It is among the top type of the select Japanese universities assigned additional funding under the MEXT's Top Global University Project to enhance Japan's global educational competitiveness.The university has graduated many notable alumni, including 17 Prime Ministers, 16 Nobel Prize laureates, 3 Pritzker Prize laureates, 3 astronauts, and 1 Fields Medalist.

Requirements:
  • Kavli is seeking for candidates who are interested in our broad range of sciences and in interacting with people across disciplines.
  • English is the official language of the Kavli IPMU and more than half of its full-time scientific members come from outside of Japan. We are building a diverse community of scientists, and we strongly encourage female and international applicants.
  • International applicants are eligible to apply for this fellowship programme.

Benefits:
Kavli postdoctoral fellows are for three years and provided with the salary comparable to those at other prestigious institutions. They receive generous travel support and are encouraged to travel internationally, visit other institutions, and attend conferences, up to 3 months every year
