IAYMH Bursary 2019 to attend the 5th International Conference on Youth Mental Health



The International Association for Youth Mental Health (IAYMH) is committed to the active involvement and participation of young people as part of its charter to change the way the global community think about young people’s mental health.

The 5th International Conference on Youth Mental Health, United for Global Change, will be held in Brisbane, Australia from 26–28 October 2019. As with previous conferences, conference bursaries are provided to assist young people to attend and participate in the conference. There are four types of bursaries available.

Bursary types/ Benefit:

International bursaries (Australians are excluded from applying for these bursaries)
  • A conference, accomodation and flights bursary
    This bursary covers the conference registration fee, two nights of accommodation near the conference venue, and one return international flight to Australia (up to the value of $1,300 AUD)
  • A conference and accomodation bursaryThis bursary covers the conference registration fee and two nights of accommodation near the conference venue
Australian bursaries
  • A conference and accomodation bursary
    This bursary covers the conference registration fee and two nights of accommodation near the conference venue
  • A conference bursaryThis bursary covers the conference registration fee for the conference

Requirement:

Bursaries are open to young people who:
  • Are aged 18–25 years at the time of the conference (26-28 October 2019). The IAYMH cannot currently accept applicants from people under 18 as we are not in a position to best provide support to this age group.
  • Have an academic or personal interest in youth mental health.
  • Have contact, a connection or relationship with an organisation such as health, youth or an educational institution or similar (not essential). This is not essential, but the IAYMH hope that young people can attend with additional financial or non-financial support from other organisations.
  • Have a willingness to co-chair a session during the conference with another person (you will be provided with additional information on what is required prior to the conference).
  • An interest in engaging in social media throughout the conference.
  • Be a member of the IAYMH – It’s free and easy to join, and you can become a member here. Your membership application does not need to have been approved or confirmed by the IAYMH before you apply for a bursary.

Selection process and criteria:
Application will be assessed and shortlisted by a panel of young people. If a large number of applicants apply, IAYMH youth participation staff will undertake an additional shortlisting process before the selection panel meet. Whilst they will not be able to assess your application if a conflict of interest exists, please note that your application may be seen by panel members who you know personally or professionally. Please note that only a limited number of bursaries are available under each grant category. Application assessment will be partially based upon the completeness and quality of the application submitted. The panel will be shortlist bursaries to young people from a range of different countries.

Deadline:
