K-STAR Scholarship - DGIST, KAIST, GIST, UNIST, POSTECH Scholarship, South Korea (Full and Partial Scholarship)



K-STAR (Korean Universities for Science and Technology and Advanced Research) are the alliance of leading STEM Korean Universities for Science & Technology and Advanced Research. Established with the vision of synergistic Cooperation, K-STAR will be the international platform for higher education in the country.The members of K-STAR are 5 leading science and engineering universities in Korea : DGIST, KAIST, GIST, UNIST, POSTECH. Forming an alliance among 5 Korean Universities for Science & Technology and Advanced Research in 2018, the alliance will work on global expansion and program development through internal and global collaboration.

1. KAIST  (Public)
 

KAIST (formerly the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) is a national research university located in Daedeok Innopolis, Daejeon, South Korea. KAIST was established by the Korean government in 1971 as the nation's first research-oriented science and engineering institution. KAIST also has been internationally accredited in business education,  and hosting the Secretariat of AAPBS. KAIST has approximately 10,200 full-time students and 1,140 faculty researchers and had a total budget of US$765 million in 2013, of which US$459 million was from research contracts.

2. DGIST (Public)

DGIST is a research-oriented university founded by Korean government to benefit society through development and advancement of science and engineering. DGIST started as a research institution in 2004 and grew dramatically into a research-oriented university by opening graduate program in 2011 and undergraduate program in 2014.

3. GIST
(Public)

The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) is a research-oriented university and the one of the prestigious school in the science and technology. GIST is located in Gwangju, South Korea. Also, GIST is the member of the schools of the union with respect to the research-oriented universities group consisting of GIST-KAIST-UNIST-POSTECH-DGIST

4. UNIST (Public)

Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, is one of the four public universities in South Korea which are dedicated to research in science and technology, along with KAIST, GIST, and DGIST. UNIST was founded in 2007 in response to growing demand for higher education in the Korean industrial capital of Ulsan.

5. POSTECH
(Private)

Out of the five universities, Postech is the only private university, which is a member of K-STAR University.
In 2012–2014, the Times Higher Education ranked POSTECH 1st in its "100 Under 50 Young Universities" rankings. Since its establishment, POSTECH has been maintaining its prestige and reputation as one of the most prominent young research universities in the world, being 83rd overall in the QS World University Rankings 2019 and 12th best in QS Asia University Ranking 2017–2018
